Welcome to the JDH Commercial Realty, LLC website

Welcome to the official James Harwell Real Estate web site for JDH COMMERCIAL REALTY, your source for Commercial Real Estate Services in the Meridian and East Mississippi area.We specialize in site acquisition, tenant and landlord representation, sales and leasing of commercial real estate in the area.
From time to time, we will list residential properties, especially those of historic nature. Presently, we have several noteworthy listings and we are especially honored to present the original developer's home for Marion Park, now known as the Poplar Springs Historic District. (The District was named by This Old House magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 places to in America to buy an old house http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/photos/0,,20283025_20634531,00.html).
Known affectionately as "The Knoll", the stately, turn-of- the-century mansion is priced at $799,000. A detailed view of The Knoll may seen on the bogspot at: www.theknollmansion.blogspot.com/ , or for a quick view of the interior photos, click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruMqBOqA_OA  to see the slideshow. And finally, do not overlook the Oldhouses.com Knoll listing at: http://www.oldhouses.com/cf/displaylisting.cfm?q_listingid=4387.
The area along Poplar Springs Drive in Meridian is remembered today by many as the most premier neighborhood in the State of Mississippi from the 1920's, especially after Marion Park School opened. It was, simply put, the place to live and attend school for over 50 years. Thanks to the revitalization efforts of the residents and with the cooperation of the city, the neighborhood has “come back”, with new families moving to Meridian and occupying the finely built, classic homes at a fraction of the cost of the same quality, new construction. Thus, it’s no wonder Poplar Springs was named to the Top 50 List by This Old House Magazine

Call my office if you have any questions about buying or selling real estate anywhere in East Mississippi. My personal background is that, as real estate paralegal, I have a broad range of experience, from acquisitions to financing. After completing my certification requirements at the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta, my career began as a title examiner, working in the Fulton County Courthouse where I learned the legal basics, or “nuts and bolts” of commercial real estate.
Moreover, as a freshman paralegal, eager to gain some experience while in contemplation of law school, I worked for law firms in such staff rotating mill-houses as: Remler, Near & Melikian, P.C., Dodson, Feldman & Dorough, L.L.P., and the venerable Fine & Block. Finally, in 1999, being thoroughly saturated and satisfied with my legal background, I contracted as an acquisitions specialist for giant cellular developer, American Tower, Inc., and thus, my career blossomed into a whole new arena.
Please browse my website for listings, reports, and information. And, see a full report of my commercial listings at www.loopnet.com or www.catylist.com.

A 1930's LATE VICTORIAN

2) 2405 Poplar Springs Drive - "The Knoll" http://theknollmansion.blogspot.com/

A CLASSIC ENGLISH TUDOR REVIVAL

Newfound prosperity gave birth to the original English Tudor architecture, which spans the reign of Henry VII in 1485 to the death of Elizabeth I in 1603. Coming on the heels of the Gothic movement, the houses gained popularity among the nobility who no longer felt the need to live in fortified castles. In fact, the oak-paneled Tudor was a step up -- cozier and more elegant than a Gothic pile of stacked stones

In the 19th century, having fallen for the style's inherent romanticism and craftsmanship, Victorian poet and designer William Morris, among others, helped spark an English revival in the vernacular style. And during the early decades of the 20th century, the style crossed the Atlantic. Developers constructed entire Tudor neighborhoods in wealthy, fast-growing suburbs, such as New York's Bronxville and Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill.

"Tudor style became popular in America as a means of suggesting ancestral ties to England". . . . (Source: Southern Accents)
